Training Support Network? What is this site about?

The Training Support Network website provides access to training information such as Training Package Purchasing Guides and delivery resources. You can find out about a Curriculum Maintenance Manager or read their latest newsletters and announcements. You can also access the latest information on other initiatives of the Office of Training and Further Education.

What is a CMM?

Curriculum Maintenance Managers (CMMs) provide strategic and innovative advice on Training Product implementation, and curriculum related professional development to enhance the teaching and learning process in VET. The nine ( 9) CMMs in Victoria also provide a Training Package advisory function for RTOs to effectively implement Training Products.

National Training and Information Service

NTIS

The National Training Information Service (NTIS) is a key database on vocational education and training in Australia . NTIS is the official national register of information on courses, qualifications, Training Packages, units of competency and registered training organisations and has been developed for experienced training sector users.

AESharenet

AESharenet

TVET Australia Product Services is owned by The Australian Ministers of Education and Training. The AESharnet is an innovative and extensive system for purchasing learning materials. A unique licensing system enables the purchase to buy with flexibly in mind verses purchasing a single copy. There is six separate purchasing license's with different purposes to meet a variety of training needs and wants. Most public and private Registered Training Organisations (RTO) are members of AEShare because it has the largest volume of training materials in Australia.

Australian Qualifications Framework

AQF

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) was launched Australia wide in 1995 under the State, Territory, Commonwealth Education and Training Guidance. The AQF gives both formal and flexible official certification of a learners knowledge and skills base. Including education standards from schools, public and private RTO's and higher education from a high school certificate through to a Doctorate. The most recent changes to the AQF standards include traineeships and apprenticeships.

Australian Flexible Learning Framework

AFLF

The Australian Flexible Learning Framework (AFLF) offers the Vocational Education and Training Sector (VET) a tool to keep up to date with the increasing use of technology in Education. The website includes e-learning skills, opportunities for professional development, product resources, and support networks. The AFLF is funded by both State, Territory and Commonwealth Government $15 million annually. One of the target groups are Indigenous learners and communities. There is an extensive amount of exciting information on Indigenous education and nationwide projects.

TVET Australia's mission statement reads: "a company, wholly owned by the Australian Governments, committed to the continuous improvement of the national training system". In addition to the impressive mission statement the TVET Australia's vision statement is as follows"....world-class national training system, driven by industry, focused on quality, in tune with Australia's workforce development needs and supported by a co-ordinated, dynamic and responsive market for training resources, complete with robust and accessible copyrighting and licensing mechanisms. Australian Training Products Limited (ATPL)

ATPL

Through this website you will find a wealth of training packages and support materials for purchasing alongside information on how to attain a license for various types of delivery or training needs. Within these resources are training learner books, policy documents, toolboxes, electronic renditions (CD) and several other up to date and flexible resources for optimum training delivery. It is a simple process of searching for what you want and then tailoring resources for the best possible training outcomes. Useful websites for VET information

The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) released in April an updated list of useful websites. The list was compiled by Lea-ann Harris, and was correct as at April 2006. The document is accessible at NCVER.

Designing e-learning

The new VTE e-magazine

The Department of Education Science and Training is publishing a new e-magazine called VTE e-News . The newsletter will be published in addition to Fast Facts and will contain articles covering news, events, achievements, opportunities and research in the VTE sector. Edna

EDNA

Education Network Australia (edna) is a free online site for Australian educators covering all sectors of education and training. Edna has online groups, discussion lists and news. You can join a group such as Indigenous VET and take part in discussions about suitable resources for teaching and training Indigenous students.

The Victorian Adult Literacy Basic Education Council (VALBEC)

VALBEC

Although not specifically Indigenous, as Victoria 's peak body for the adult literacy field, VALBEC is helpful for teachers of Language, Literacy and Numeracy and provides information, professional development, and a professional journal. Topics on Indigenous Education are regularly included in their journal and conference programs.

Department of education, Science and Training (DEST)

DEST

DEST provides innovative, national leadership in all aspects of Education whilst integrating the Government's desired outcomes. This process is achieved through consultation and partnerships with all States and Territories, key stakeholders and the community. The outcome of the enormous facilitation is the ever-changing needs of society being met on a national education scale. The website is up-to-date and comprehensive demonstrating the quality of time, effort and resources that are put into Education nationally. There is a wealth of information on Indigenous education and an easy to follow link on the 'Home' page.

NCVER is Australia's foremost organisation for anaylsing education research and statistics nationwide. The website follows the trends and evaluates the changes in adult education sector. It is a extensive and easy to follow website with clear steps to navigate the wealth of information. Apart from being up to date and informative of the real needs of Australian learners NCVER plays a pivotal role in shaping future education pathways and policies based on the organisations expert role as education trend researcher. For Indigenous specific information please enter 'Indigenous' or 'Aboriginal' into the search engine.

Australian Apprenticeships Training Information Service

This service is an in-depth website for learners seeking any range of information on apprenticeships. An Australian Government initiative search engine for Australian wide employment and training opportunities. there are a multitude of links that give a clear and thorough indication of who, how, where, when and why Apprenticeships work in every State and Territory throughout the nation. Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services (VETASSESS)

VETASSESS

The quality service provides a globally, nationally and locally client base in adult education. The unique Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specialises solely in assessment through assisting all relevant stakeholders to clarify and achieve learning and assessment outcomes. This service includes for example publishing, seminars and workshops, consultancy, individual Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) and so forth. A well respected organisation that boasts a list of important stakeholders in the adult education sector.

Department of Education (DET)

DET

DET plays an integral role in the policy and planning of education and training in Victoria. These outcomes are achieved through advice sourced from a variety of sources which is then put into practice with VET delivery. Therefore DET is the collaborator between the high departmental Government levels and the implementation of programs. For example in the Indigenous community the implementation of various forms of funding for the adult learners at the grassroots community level. The Department is under the portfolio of Jacinta Allan, Minister for Education Services.

Training Packages @ Work (TPAT)

TPAT is a free e-newsletter targeted for the teachers and trainers in the adult education system. The newsletter comes once a month and is an invaluable source if information. It is seen that the VET sector is fluid in nature and constantly changing and adapting to meet the needs of learners. Therefore keeping the finger on the pulse can be difficult with the already bust schedules most educators work under. Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA)

The VCAA provides organisations with authentic curriculum and assessment programs Victoria wide which are compliant. This is a enormous amount of information considering the VCAA is responsible for Prep through to Year 10 and adult education from VCE, VCAL and VET. Perhaps what is most exciting about this site for Indigenous learners is the information on VCE and VET.
