Victorian courses

The following Victorian course targets Koori learners:

  • 21361VIC - Certificate I in Learning Pathways for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
  • 21362VIC - Certificate II in Learning Pathways for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
  • 21363VIC - Certificate III in Learning Pathways for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

The courses 21128VIC, 21129VIC and the Certificates I and II in Vocational Studies include the following electives relating to Koori learners:

  • VBK424 - Pre-Invasion History
  • VBK426 - Koori Health
  • VBK427 - Community Development
  • VBK428 - Government Aboriginal Affairs Policy
  • VBK429 - Post-Invasion History
  • VBK430 - Art and Culture
  • VBK431 - Child Care and Adoption
  • VBK432 - Police and the Law

Although not specifically designed for Koori learners, the following Victorian course are widely used in delivery to Koori groups:

Support materials

  • Swinburne University has developed a CDROM with resources gathered during a Reframing the Future project to establish a community of practice around the Learning Pathways courses. Form more information contact Tanya Tankard on (03) 9726 1705.
  • The Where's the Party At? Toolbox is aimed at youth (15-19), and provides materials that explore personal development issues. The engaging content will allow learners to develop reading, writing and numeracy skills as well as online and general computing skills. The Where’s the Party At Toolbox supports the delivery of the Certificate of General Education for Adults. The Toolbox is available from Australian Training Products at ATPL.
  • The Cybercentre Toolbox is designed to provide basic skills to learners with literacy and numeracy needs through the use of simulated ‘real life’ activities. Rather than align with a specific course or qualification Cybercentre supports levels 1 & 2 of the National Reporting System in reading, writing and numeracy. The Toolbox is available from Australian Training Products at ATPL.
  • The Interactive Ochre Toolbox is under development (Aug 2005). It will be a contemporary resource bringing an Aboriginal perspective on cultural awareness training that can be adapted for use across all educational and industry sectors.
